THE Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Chief Chinedu Enujeko, has enrolled 120 individuals into the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative (IEAI), while the Director of Administration at the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Mr. Martins Bolum, contributed to the effort by registering 20 more individuals in support of Chief Enujeko’s initiative.
Addressing the gathering at the event, the Director-General of the Commission, Dr Isaac Akpoveta expressed satisfaction at the rate citizens keyed into the Initiative of the Commission, which provides a platform for people to buy health insurance for those who cannot afford it
Dr Akpoveta commended Chief Enujeko for adopting and sponsoring 120 residents of his community saying that the gesture is in line with the all inclusive healthcare move of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, targeted at ensuring a healthier state.
While educating the public on the various plans of the state’s Contributory Health Scheme, he reiterated that the state government had already released ₦1.6 billion to the commission—₦1 billion allocated for settling outstanding bills and ₦600 million to be disbursed in ₦100 million installments monthly. This funding aims to ensure that pregnant women and children under five receive free and quality healthcare in the state. He also commended Governor Oborevwori for his unwavering support of the commission.
In his address, the sponsor of the 120 enrollees, Chief Chinedu Enujeko said as an appointee of the state government, he thought to give back to the society through health, bearing in mind that health is wealth, and thanked the Commission for the platform
The traditional ruler of Ubulu Unor, Obi Afamefuna Kikachukwu 1, and the President General of the Community, Professor Jiff Mokobia, recalled their earlier visit to the Commission where they promised the Director General of their willingness to partner with the Commission and key into the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative, adding that the sponsorship was a fruit of the visit
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the State Government and the Commission for ensuring that residents and indigenes of Delta, receive greater access to healthcare services.
Highpoint was the presentation of health cards to beneficiaries, and a plaque to the sponsor as a health ambassador, as well as a tour of the hospital facility led by the matron of the health centre, Helen Enurah, where the Director General was drawn to a baby delivered in the hospital same day to an indigene of the community, Mrs Gladys Nomeh
