THE 2025 Budget Defense got underway yesterday at the Delta State House of Assembly. Among the sessions, was the successful defense of N9.8 billion proposed as capital expenditure by the Ministry of Urban Renewal, meant for capital consolidation and grassroots infrastructure development by the ministry in 2025.
The budget defense by the Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Engr. Ifeanyi Anoka was before the House Committee on Urban Renewal chaired by Hon. Perez Oloye. Hon. Bridget Anyafulu is the Deputy Chairman, while members of the committee are Hon. Ferguson Onwho, Hon. Festus Okoh, Hon. Benson Obure.
Anoka was flanked by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Charity Ehimen as well as directors and assistant directors, including TPL Charles Egba, TPL Godwin Okore, TPL Ogbugo, Eddy Ewesiodo, among others.
Anoka who described the budget defense as successful and well-received by the House Committee, said the sum proposed would be expended on road construction, streetlights provision, infrastructure upgrade, aesthetic reformation and initiation of Asaba and Warri masterplan.
He said the ministry is committed to realizing its IGR target in 2025, while pleading with the committee to consider an increase in its regular overhead to enhance service delivery by his ministry, among other highlights of the budget defense.
