2025: We’ll Scale Up Infrastructure Delivery –Oborevwori

  • Makes Minor Cabinet Reshuffle

By Sunday Egede

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, yesterday, said the state would witness enhanced delivery of more infrastructural projects in 2025.

The Governor, who disclosed this during the inspection of projects within Asaba and the state capital territory, said he would embark on more inspection and inauguration of projects in the new year.  Speaking at the proposed Asaba International Market, Governor Oborevwori said he decided to visit some of the projects to see things for himself.

“We won’t just sit in the office and do just approvals; we need to look at some of these projects to see how they are performing.

“After service today, I decided to pay unscheduled visit to this Asaba International Market. Within this month, we are going to do the ground-breaking, but we have already authorised them to start the construction.

“We will come fully for the ground-breaking before the end of this month. It is part of the facelift to the capital territory. We are going around the city, looking at the city to make sure the place is clean.

“Most of the roads are already due for overlay because most of them are old roads. You know, when you are using roads, you need to maintain them; in the Western world, you see them maintain their roads regularly.

“So, we will continue to maintain some of these roads and construct new ones and give the Asaba Capital Territory a new face,” he said

The Governor noted that the market used to be the Abraka Market where criminals were taking advantage of the area before the state government relocated them to Oko. “The State Government decided to relocate the market to Oko and we have made arrangements with Efab Properties Limited to develop this place.

“The state government is getting 20 per cent because we are providing land and they are to build and allocate but we will get 20 per cent from it and it Is something that we encourage,” he added.

Governor Oborevwori also inspected the completed Gerald Onianwa Crescent, OdigweJuwa Avenue, the storm drainage project under construction behind Asaba Specialist Hospital in Asaba, and other network of roads in Oshimili South Local Government Area.

BY PATRICK MGBODO

Meanwhile, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has carried out a strategic cabinet reshuffle to enhance the effective execution of his administration’s MORE Agenda.

To this end, the governor has reassigned the Commissioner for Information, Dr Michael Osuoza to oversee the operations at Special Duties (Government House) in Asaba.

Confirming the development, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, added that the Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Hon. Charles Aniagwu has been tasked with supervising the Ministry of Information.

In his brief confirmation to The Pointer, Sir Ahon stated, “Yes, Dr. Osuozahas been assigned to Special Duties (Government House), while Hon. Aniagwu will now oversee the Ministry of Information.’’

Recall that Hon. Aniagwu has served as the Commissioner for Information, a role he paired with being the spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate during the 2023 general elections.

On the other hand, Dr. Osuoza, who has served in several high-profile roles within the Delta State Government, brings a wealth of experience to his new assignment. Before his current role, Dr. Osuoza was a former Commissioner for Special Duties (Project Monitoring).

He also served as Chairman of the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Asaba and Warri, Executive Assistant (Communication), and State Publicity Secretary of the PDP.

Dr. Osuoza’s reassignment to the Special Duties (Government House) and Hon. Aniagwu’s return to the Ministry of Information are expected to reinforce the administration’s focus on public service excellence, transparent governance, and robust media outreach.
