64th Independence: Let’s Celebrate Our Freedom, Isoko South Boss Urges Nigerians

THE Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Comrade Ovoke Friday Warri, has urged Nigerians to celebrate their freedom as the nation marks its 64th Independence Day anniversary.

In a press statement issued to such effect, Hon Warri described the freedom as an outcome, which resulted from the struggles of many brave hearts and the blood of indomitable spirits, adding that, to sacrifice life requires infallible courage.

According to him, Nigeria, since its independence in 1960, has made giant strides in building its economy which was tattered by colonization and in just six decades, Nigeria is not only be branded as third world country but have grown to become one of the fastest growing economy in 2015 and second largest in Africa.

He however, remunerated on the blessedness of the late elder statesman, James Augustine Ekpre Otobo, who was a member of the delegation that handled Nigeria’s independence treaties in London, stating that, as a former deputy premier of the defunct Midwest region, he did not just fight for Nigeria independence and also gave Isoko an identity in Nigeria.

“Now, it is our turn to work towards the progress of this nation, especially our dear Isoko south irrespective of who we are. What matters most, is our contribution to the betterment of the country. Let’s be responsible citizens and build our nation through our unrelenting diligence and unity for our future generation”.

“ On this special day, as we mark our 64th Independence day anniversary, l wish that all our great dreams of a better and healthy tomorrow comes true but we must always bear in our minds that in as much as no nation is perfect, it can be made perfect by you and l”.
