IN his bid to restore the beauty and cleanliness of Ughelli North Local Government, the Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, weekend, embarked on a special sanitation exercise in Ughelli metropolis.
In his comment during the clean-up, OloroguJaro Egbo frowned at the dirty environment in Ughelli metropolis, warning that this was no longer acceptable as it is unhealthy to the people.
For this reason, he said, the residents should see every day as an opportunity to clean up their environment.
The Council Chairman emphasised that, since Otowodo junction was where visitors pass to places like Asaba, Port Harcourt, there was the urgent need to keep it clean.
He stressed the need for Ughelli residents to see Delta State as a State for all of us and the need to impress visitors and investors who may need to pass through Ughelli.
He, therefore, instructed all road side traders in the area to relocate to the Ughelli/Ogor modern market, built by the Delta State Government and stop giving excuses of not having an alternative.
The exercise, aimed at promoting the hygiene and sanitation of the area, saw the Chairman and his team clearing drains, removing trash, and sensitizing residents on the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
The initiative was well-received by members of the community, who praised the Chairman’s efforts in tackling the long-standing issue of poor sanitation in the area.
This, they said Hon Jaro Egbo has been doing since he assumed office as Chairman, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the development and well-being of Ughelli North.
