My Boyfriend Jilts Me For Side Chicks

DEAR JUMAI,

I am currently in a relationship full of lies and deceit. My boyfriend of two years happens to be dating my best friend. Few days ago he told me that he was traveling back to Benin, I tried begging him to stay back because of the interstate lockdown but he insisted that he wants to go and see his mum and would bribe is way through. So, I accepted and allowed him.

I saw him off to the park the next day and left when the vehicle moved. To my greatest surprise I did not know how my boyfriend got out of the vehicle and found his way to my best friend’s house. My friend never expected I will pay her surprise visit that day because, since the lockdown I have not been able to see her.

At first I was shocked and then when I asked for explanations, my boyfriend flaunted his hands on my face, asking me to go to hell. This is someone that just professed his undying love for me hours ago. I just want to know why my best friend will hurt me this much. Felicia.

Dear Felicia,

It could be painful how you were treated by your boyfriend and best friend. What they did to you was wrong. But my dear, most times it is advised that we should not put our eggs in one basket or, in this case love beyond reason.

I know you have dedicated two years of your life to the relationship and you have also loved him. But my advice is that you move on and forget about him. This is a sign that you guys were not meant to be. A man that abandoned you for your friend, even when you find out he did not show remorse, proves that he never loved you.

Forgive them but do not get distracted. Do not forget, “keep your friend close, but your enemy closer”. This way you can know what is going on around you. Start a new relationship and this time, beware of who you trust.
