Slain Policeman: Agberen Commiserates With Delta Police Command, Bereaved Family

THE National Coordinator of Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement(ISRCA), Comrade (Amb) Derrick Agberen, has commiserated with the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command, Ebrumede Divisional Headquarters in Effurun and the family of the bereaved officer who died while on duty in the area recently.

This was contained in a statement he personally signed, made available to newsmen in Warri.

Recall that while a police team was on patrol duty in the area on the 18th of August, 2024, along Commissioner Road, off Uti, Effurun, armed men suspected to be kidnappers opened fire on their vehicle and the deceased officer who was the driver died from bullet wounds.

Corporal Chibuzor Ojobule, the deceased policeman, is a Deltan, happily married and blessed with five (5) children until his tragic demise.

Reacting, Agberen added:  “Who then bears the burden in the upbringing of the children he has left behind?”

He continued: “There are no simple ways to solve insecurity challenges and bad governance in Nigeria, when a few people in the country are playing dirty politics with over two hundred million Nigerians, yet, they want a sane society. Whatever has befallen Nigeria was created by these leaders and it is high time they started dancing to the rhythm. Insecurity will soon reach all the high and mighty in society; it is just a matter of time!”

According to him, “Nigerian Police, Army and their likes have become political instruments in the hands of politicians but yet, they have kept murmuring and clamoring for their poor welfare schemes but would not join their voices to the rest of Nigerians.”

While commending the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ebrumede Division, CSP Ndifreke NtafiongIwok for the efforts to curb crime in the area, he said it was quite unfortunate that the police put so much in the protection of human lives and property but gets so little in terms of their welfare and other logistics both during and after service.

He called on the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Surajudeen Olufemi Abaniwonda, to ensure that the family of the deceased Police officer is duly compensated.
