Four Female Inmates Participate In NECO Examination

The Nigerian Correctional Service Female Custodial Facility, Auchi has achieved a record feat of having four  female inmates to successfully complete the June/July 2024 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) organized by the National Examination Council (NECO).

This marked the climax of the secondary school that the inmates began from scratch by attending adult literacy classes at the Female Custodial Facility.

Speaking on this achievement, the Deputy Controller of Corrections In charge of the Facility, DCC Odoh Jane congratulated the inmates for the milestone achievement. She said she is very proud of them, commending their resilience and dedication to become better individuals.

She also said that the Nigerian Correctional Service under the leadership of CGCS Haliru Nababa is poised to ensure the rehabilitation and reformation of inmates through various means, including educational training, skills acquisition, sports and many more.

DCC Odoh informed the excited inmates that the Controller of Corrections, Edo State Command, Emehinola Philomena has assured of her continues support to all the inmates in their quest to achieve successful reformation, rehabilitation and re-integration.

She charged the girls. saying “when you regain freedom, make sure you further your studies, excel and contribute your quota toward a better society.”

Details provided by the Coordinator of the inmates’ Educational activities, ASC1 Imonikhe Evelyn showed that six inmates were prepared and registered for the NECO examination, four of the inmates wrote the exams and two legally regained freedom from custody before the commencement of the examinations.

Speaking on behalf of the female inmates, one who identified herself simply as Miss Mercy expressed profound gratitude to God Almighty, the Controller General of Corrections and the management of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Auchi for a dream come true, promising to strive to be the ambassadors of change in the society.
