Task Force Nabs Pastor, Others Over Refuse Dumping At Night

THIRTY persons, including a popular pastor, were arrested recently at night for pouring refuse into drainages in Asaba, Delta State capital.

Chairman of Delta State Task Force on Environment, Godspower Asiuhwu, disclosed this in Asaba while speaking to reporters.

Asiuhwu said that the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration was ready to make all parts of the state clean.

He said that some officials have been detailed at night to catch people who were in the habit of dumping refuse on drains.

He also said that from the Custom Check Point on the Asaba-Onitsha express road to the Bridge Head shall soon be cleared of those parking trucks and green vegetation planted so that visitors to Asaba using the expressway would be welcomed with a beautiful environment.

He added that the 14 days’ notice given to the trucks and heavy duty vehicles has expired.

He also gave marching orders to owners of uncompleted buildings harbouring miscreants to do something about it or their C of O might be revoked by the government.
