Report Defaulting PSP Operators, Asiuwhu Urges Deltans

THE Chairman of Delta State Special Task Force on Environment, Hon. Godspower Asiuwhu has advised Deltans to report any failure by Private Sector Participants (PSPs) in waste evacuation.

Asiuwhu gave the advice while speaking with newsmen during the sixth edition of the Journalists Hangout, organized by the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in Asaba.

He urged them to help the government in ensuring that the state was free of dirt and are removed by the operators who were responsible for waste collection.

He said those PSP operators, who are found wanting would be made to face the law, adding that it was an offense for service providers to fail to deliver on their job.

The Chairman also urged developers in the state to patronise the services of the registered artisans, rather than that of road side hustlers who are security threats to the state.

According to him, the government planned to issue an executive order requiring developers to hire only registered artisans.

Speaking on the consequences, the chairman said “If we find unregistered workers on a construction site, we will assume the developers are bringing criminals into the state and take appropriate action”.

Earlier the state Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, commended the Taskforce Chairman for his presence.

Oyowe said his presence would help foster better communication and understanding between government officials and the media, adding that the interaction would also help the media hold the government accountable.
