Transport Commissioner Harps On Adequate Communication

…Receives New Delta FRSC Sector Commandant

DELTA State Transport Commissioner, Mr. Onoriode Agofure has re-affirmed the importance of cooperation, forbearance and adequate communication in making the nation’s roads free of accidents and other encumbrances.

Agofure made the remark when the new Delta State FRSC Sector Command, Mr. Frederick Ogidan paid him a working visit in Asaba in efforts to build a symbiotic relationship with the Ministry of Transport.

Metaphorically speaking, he said that the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has “stamped his feet on the ground in ensuring that accidents are  reduced to the barest minimum, as a result, there are necessary provisions for DESTMA and VIO personnel across the state.

The commissioner added that traffic lights are being maintained regularly, as well as road infrastructure, lane markings and other road signs aimed at addressing issues concerning road mishaps.

Agofure disclosed that drivers in the state civil service are given yearly training as well as eye tests, practical training, and vehicle maintenance in emergency situations. Agofure assured the sector Commander of a robust and rewarding synergy.

Earlier, Ogidan, who commended the commissioner for the warm reception, said his team were at the ministry to discuss areas of mutual understanding in order to have a seamless operations in the state. He listed the federally-owned Asaba/Onitsha expressway after the Koka flyover as an area of concern, adding that he had visited the Federal Ministry of works and FERMA over the situation of the road and stressed that there was hope of the road being fixed soon.
