Warri’s LG Chairman Swears In Supervisors, Urges Commitment To Service

THE Executive Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council, Hon. Festus Ashima, has called on the newly sworn-in Supervisory Councillors to view their appointments as a call to service rather than just a celebration.

Ashima delivered this message during the swearing-in ceremony at the council’s headquarters in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.

He emphasized that their roles present a significant opportunity to contribute to governance and improve the lives of the people, while also enhancing the image of their party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “As new officials, who are now integral members of the council’s executive arm, you must prioritize sacrifice and quality service in their respective portfolios.

“Absenteeism, complacency, and laziness would not be tolerated in this administration, as they are detrimental to effective governance,” he said.

Ashima expressed confidence in the newly appointed team, noting that it comprises individuals of proven capacity and integrity, whom he believes will contribute positively to the council’s success.

The five Supervisory Councillors, who had previously been screened and cleared by the Warri North Local Government Legislative Arm, were officially sworn in by Hon. Festus Ashima.

The appointees include Victor Ekede, who will serve as Supervisor for Agriculture; Elvis Jemerigbe, appointed as Supervisor for Education; Ukuenukun Lucky, taking on the role of Supervisor for Works; Ukugha Christmas, designated as Supervisor for Special Duties; and Gladys Taylor, who will oversee environmental matters as the Supervisor for Environment.

Additionally, the position of Supervisor for Health has been reserved for the Executive Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Honorable Florence Bisina, who previously served in the same capacity.

Responding on beha l f of her colleagues, newly elected Supervisor for Environment, Gladys Taylor expressed their collective gratitude to Ashima and the PDP for the opportunity to serve. “Our team will work diligently to justify the trust placed in them by the government, the party, and the people of Warri North,” she added.

The ceremony, which was attended by key council officials, including the Head of Personnel Management, Clement Anighoro, marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Warri North Local Government Council as the newly sworn-in officials prepare to commence their duties.
