THE Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Vincent Oyibode, has pledged to review the bursary payment scheme for students in the area.
This assurance came during a congratulatory visit by the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) led by its National President, Comrade Wiska Monday.
During the visit, Monday expressed appreciation for Oyibode’s recent election as the Chairman of the Local Government, highlighting his leadership as a source of hope and inspiration for the student community.
Monday also appealed for the Udu Local Government to consider reintroducing bursary payments for students, noting the increasing burden of tuition fees and inflation.
He recalled Oyibode’s past efforts in advocating for an increase in the Delta State Bursary from ₦500 to ₦5,000, emphasizing the significance of financial support for students.
The delegation presented Oyibode with congratulatory gifts, including a Roll-Up Banner, an Official Seal, and Complimentary Cards. Additionally, Oyibode was honoured with the NADESSTU Merit Award for his proactive contributions to the Oil and Gas sector during his tenure as Honourable Commissioner.
In his response, Oyibode expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to the student community, which he described as his primary constituency. He assured the delegation that he would seriously consider their appeal for bursary payments and emphasized his administration’s dedication to fostering strong relationships with students and encouraging their active participation in local government activities.
