IN a mission driven by faith and dedication, a U.S.-based educator and founder of The X for Boys Organization, Mr. King Randall, travelled to Nigeria to participate in the NextGen Boys Summer Bootcamp organized by the Mega Impact Foundation in partnership with the Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation.
The event, which began on Tuesday brought together children from various public and private schools, including those with special needs, was held at the Prince Ned Nwoko Hall in Asaba, Delta State.
Mr. Randall, whose organization is dedicated to teaching life skills to young boys, expressed his goal for participating in the Bootcamp.
“I wanted to inspire the boys and educate them about our cultures, some of which are similar,” he said. “But mostly, I wanted them to feel they can learn and become anything they aspire to be in the future.”
He noted that he was particularly impressed by the drive and passion of the Nigerian children. “I look forward to going back home and sharing this experience with our students,” Randall added.
During his visit, Mr. Randall conducted workshops focused on practical life skills such as proper handshakes, eye contact, and effective communication. He emphasized that these lessons are crucial for young men, particularly those who aspire to live and work in the United States. “Routines build habits. Habits build character. And character makes the man,” he explained, highlighting the importance of establishing a strong foundation early on.
Randall emphasized that his visit marks the beginning of what he hopes will be a lasting partnership. While The X for Boys has grown significantly since its inception in 2019 from a small group in his dining room to a full-fledged school. He understands the importance of sustained relationships. “In-and-outs don’t help children,” he stated, stressing the need for continuous engagement.
Recognizing the challenges faced by the Mega Impact Foundation, particularly in securing funding, Randall pledged his commitment to assist them in their efforts. Whether through fundraising or sharing resources, he is determined to support the foundation in its mission to uplift boys and advance other future projects.
In her remarks, Ms. Florence Ogonegbu, the initiator of the Mega Impact Foundation, expressed her gratitude to The X for Boys organization for their prompt participation in the Bootcamp. She also highlighted some of the challenges her organization faces and called for partnerships and support from other prominent individuals to achieve their goal of educating and equipping the boy child with essential tools for success.
