Oborevwori Seeks Amendment Of Revised Appropriation Law, 2023

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has sought the attention of the State House of Assembly on a Bill for a law to amend the Revised Appropriation Law 2023.

The governor’s intent was made known, yesterday, at the resumed plenary of the State Assembly through a letter he addressed to the lawmakers.

In the letter, which was read at the hallowed chamber by the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Governor Oborevwori hinted that the amendment being sought had become necessary to reflect the changes in the budget.

The letter read inter alia; “It would be recalled that I presented a Supplementary Appropriation Bill in September, 2023, which was graciously approved by the House.

“The aforementioned amendment has become necessary to reflect on the changes in the budget

“Thus, the amended Recurrent Expenditure would be N502,399,008,514 and the amended capital Expenditure would be N307,426,080,337” Governor Oborevwori said.

Further in the letter, the Governor stated that the budget size remained N809 Billion for the services of the year ended December 31, 2023.

The bill, which was read the first time on the floor of the House, has been scheduled for second reading today, Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
