Public hearing on a bill for a law to enact and consolidate the law relating to the licencing, control and registration of pets and other related matters connected therewith in Delta State has been scheduled for Monday, September 9, this year.
A statement by the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Perkins Umukoro said that the public hearing, billed for 2pm, would hold at the conference hall of the State Assembly complex. Hon. Umukoro, in the statement, requested relevant stakeholders, particularly Ministries of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Health, Environment, Oil and Gas as well as Justice to advance memoranda to the House Committee on or before Friday, September 6, this year.
The statement added that Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) as well as the State Chapter of Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association should also forward memoranda to the committee. All memoranda, according to Hon Umukoro, should be in 12 copies and, enclosed in sealed envelope.
Such memoranda, the statement added, should be addressed to the Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources and marked; “Delta State Pet Control and Responsible Ownership Bill, 2024 through the clerk of the committee.
