THE members of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State have commenced a campaign tour across the wards ahead of the local government elections in the state.
The tour aimed at soliciting for membership support and unveiling political aspirants started with visits to OwaOyibu, Idumuesah, Akumazi and Ute Ogbeje community.
Speaking during the campaign visit in the council area, the PDP Ika North East campaign Director General, Comrade Emeke Asiwe told the members that the party had endorsed the inclusiveness of the youths in leadership and governance as an opportunity to train them on leadership capacity and administrative capability.
Asiwe further urged party members to reabsorb re-defacto party members who returned to PDP after the 2023 general election, adding that party affairs are enhanced by hard work and capacity not by the length of party affiliation.
While thanking the party members for their continuous support for PDP, the campaign director general urged the mobilisation of votes for the party during the upcoming local government chairmanship and councillorship elections in the state to attract the dividends of democracy from the government to the area.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of PDP Ika North East Chapter, Rt. Hon. Chuks Agbomah called on the party members to go back to their wards and units and mobilise support for the party, adding that that it is only through their votes in the elections that the people could appreciate the party for all it has done for them.
While appreciating the immediate past governor of the State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his administrative legacies across the state, Agbomah adviced members of the party that are yet to benefit from the party empowerment Programmes to be patient and continue to support the progress of the party as it would be their turn when next the opportunity of the programme comes.
The event was graced by distinguished personalities including the Delta State Commissioner for Rural Roads, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, member representing Ika North East at the Delta State House of Assembly Hon. Mrs Marylyn Okowa Daramola, top government and political functionaries, among others.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of party flag to the local government council Chairmanship aspirant, Hon Monday Odigwe and the Party Councillorship aspirants in the wards visited.
