Wife of the Delta State Governor, Dcns. Tobore Oborevwori will today, distribute food palliatives to indigent women in the State while farmers would also be receiving grants.
She disclosed this, yesterday, when she received on a courtesy visit, wives of the new chairmen from the 25 local governments.
According to her, the distribution, which is scheduled to hold at the Dome Event Centre, is part of efforts to reach the unreached at the grassroots through her pet project, the You Matter Charity Foundation.
Reaffirming her commitment to the wellbeing of the indigent and vulnerable in the state, the First Lady emphasized the place of collective efforts. In her words, “With the right support and collaboration, a lot of positive things will be done for the people of our dear state in terms of meaning development, opportunities for growth, and enhanced human capital development. “We need the support of the local government chairmen to achieve these noble goals, and there is the need for everyone to contribute their quota”, she added.
The First Lady admonished the chairpersons to give premium attention to their families, irrespective of how crowded their schedules may be. She also extended her appreciation to the team for their support during the burial of her elder brother recently.
The Spokesperson of the delegation, and wife of the Chairman, Aniocha South Local Government, Mrs Ella Chukwunweike, said they had keyed into the programme of the First Lady by collectively embarking on community based projects.
They also promised to uphold the tenets of synergy and meaningful collaboration with her office in order to achieve maximum results.
The delegation of women also extended their appreciation to the state Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his mentorship and guidance which helped their husbands attain their current political positions.
