Tinubu Will Soon Remove Subsidy On Air, Charge Nigerians —Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the manner it handled the subsidy removal reforms.

Obi said the Tinubu government would also remove the subsidy on air and charge Nigerians if it had the chance.

The Labour Party presidential candidate and former governor of Anambra State made the statement during a recent television interview.

Obi said, “I’ve said it before, we have to show what is being removed and where it is being applied. You don’t know what the subsidy is today. You don’t know.”

“What they are saying is that petrol subsidy is gone; the electricity subsidy is gone. Soon they will remove the subsidy on air. If they had the chance, they would charge us for air. We are not saying we will not do that. But tell us where it is going.”

The Pointer recalls that Tinubu’s government announced the removal of fuel subsidies in May 2023. The development has also led to a hike in petrol pump prices nationwide.
