Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has come under fierce criticism on social media amid her public endorsement of Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial election.
In a video circulating on the social media, the actress was seen campaigning for Okpebholo at a rally, calling on the crowd to support the APC candidate.
In the video, she emphasized the need for change in Edo State, pointing to the lack of basic amenities such as electricity, water, healthcare and security.
The video has, however triggered backlash on social media, with critics accusing her of supporting the national ruling party despite the widespread economic hardship plaguing the country.
