Two-Storey Building Collapses In Asaba

A two-storey building under construction near the Asaba International Airport has collapsed, making construction workers to scamper for safety.

Although, there were no reports of casualties yet, it was gathered that some of the workers jumped from the building into nearby compounds at the time of the incident.

It was gathered that the workers had finished the second storey and were moving to the third couch when trouble started

A source disclosed that some workers sustained injuries in the process of trying to escape for their lives.

Another eyewitness, who spoke, revealed that the building was being rushed by the owner without stop before the collapse occurred.

He disclosed that the building, located opposite Asaba Airport, adjacent a Nigerian Police Station, (former SARS), Okpanam collapsed following downpour that left several residents close to the area in serious panic.

The source said that some of the trapped workers had been rescued while search for others was still on as at the time of filing in this story.

According to one of the workers who simply identified himself as Unor, several workers were severely injured while jumping from the second floor of the building to escape while few others successfully escaped unhurt

When contacted, the Commissioner for Housing, Godknows Agele, did not respond to calls and messages put across to his phone as at the time of filing in this report.
