Renewed Cult Clash Claims Two

TWO youths suspected to be members of Supreme Vikings Confraternity also known as Aro Bagger cult group have been gunned down by a rival cult group suspected to be members of Aye.

One of the youths was said to be an indigene of Adonte community in Aniocha South Local Government Area, while the second victim is an indigene of Benue State.

The incident, which happened around 10pm was said to have caused pandemonium around the area as most shop owners who were still open had to quickly close their shops and hurried home.

Findings from a reliable local security source, who craved anonymity said the two victims were on an assassination mission against some of the Aye members when they were gunned down.

According to the security source, the victims were not resident in Ogwashi-Uku metropolis. “What we learnt was that both youths who were armed with a gun had gone to a drinking joint somewhere in Umudei quarters where most of Aye cult members normally meet.

“In fact, the Umudei axis in Ogwashi-Uku is known as Aye cult group rendezvous. It was one of the drinking joints where they normally meet that the two rival cult members went to attack them.

“We learnt that they opened fire on the Aye cult members. But the Aye members had superior fire power and so, succeeded in gunning down the duo. We recovered about 11 expended cartridges from the scene of the crime”, he disclosed.

He revealed that members of the rival cult group had beat their escape from the scene when security agents arrived the place. “It is the police and men of Ogwashi-Uku vigilante that moved the corpse of the two victims to the mortuary,” he said.

Recall that some stakeholders and community leaders in Ogwashi-Uku community had with the support of the state government and security agencies warned youths of the community of dire consequences if caught to be involved in recent cult killings and other cult activities.

A source who was privy to the stakeholders’ decision confirmed the move ro rid the area of cultism.

The stakeholders had warned cultists to steer clear of Ogwashi-Uku metropolis in their determination to stop cult killings. It was learnt that the concerned indigenes went as far as warning that houses of parents of cultists would be razed down.

… As More Die In Suspected Reprisal Attack

IN what appears to be a reprisal attack, two members of both Aye and Aro Bagger cult groups were at the wee hours of Saturday shot dead.

The incident was reported to have occurred somewhere at Azungwu quarters in Ogwashi-Uku metropolis.

One of the deceased was said to be a member of the Aro Bagger cult group, whose name was given as Eke, was said to be the leader of the cult group in Ogwashi-Uku community, while the second deceased youth who was identified as Israel was reported to be a member of Aye cult group.

A security source told our correspondent that the two were indigenes of Ogwashi-Uku community.

According to our source, the leader of the Aro Bagger cult group had apprehended the Aye cult member at about 2am in their area at Azungwu when one of the Aro Bagger member opened fire.

“In the process, he shot both his Aro Bagger cult member and their target who is a member of the Aye cult group dead. The two died before security operatives could get to the scene of the incident”, he revealed.

He further disclosed that since after youths of the community were warned against cult-related killings, members of the group who had scores to settle among rival cult members resorted to importing their members, who are non-resident in the community.

“We didn’t know some of the cult members who are indigenes of our community are still participating in killings here in Ogwashi-Uku. It is this current incident that has raised our awareness that it is still happening.

“Before now, the information making the rounds was that members of the rival cult groups normally bring in their members who are non-indigenes and are not resident in the metropolis to carry out the killings.

“But the latest incident has opened our eyes that those resident here and indigenes of Ogwashi-Uku community are still involved despite the warning that was handed down to all”, he explained.
