THE Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-indigene Traders in Delta central and south senatorial districts, Hon Sunny Okeke has urged traders at the Merchant Industrial Spare Parts Market to the governor in his drive to make Delta a business hub.
Okeke made the appeal when he paid a ‘Thank You’ visit to traders at the Enerhen Merchant Industrial Spare Parts Market in Enerhen, Uvwie Local Government Area.
The governor’s aide informed the traders that Governor Oborevwori, through his MORE Agenda, has put measures to enable non-indigene traders in the state to thrive in their businesses.
He commended the traders for supporting the governor during the Governorship election in 2023, urging them to sustain the tempo for the governor to extend the dividends of democracy to Non-indigene traders in the state.
Okeke further appealed to the Enerhen merchant industrial spare parts traders to continue to be law-abiding, support one another and be united so that they can continue to excel in their various endeavours.
He promised to inform Governor Oborevwori of the demands made by the traders during the visit.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Enerhen Merchant Industrial Spare Parts, Mr Gabriel Ossai, on behalf of the traders, thanked Hon Sunny Okeke for the visit.
Ossai noted that Governor Oborevwori is doing well, especially in the areas of infrastructural development. He said the Governor means well for Deltans by approving the construction of flyover bridges in Warri and Effurun as well as the reconstruction of other roads in the State.
He said the traders would continue to support the Oborevwori administration for them to benefit from his various human capital development.
According to the chairman of Enerhen Merchant industrial spare parts traders, “I am appealing to the Governor to provide grants and loans to our traders so that they can remain in business as some traders can no longer purchase goods following the economic hardship in the country”.
He also appealed to the Governor to include Non-indigene traders in the Delta COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (D-CARES) Programme which recently increased the number of beneficiaries from 36,353 to 110,841.
During an interactive session, the traders appealed to the Governor to bring back nightlife and attract companies to Warri and its environs. They pledged to support Hon Sunny Okeke so that he can succeed in his new assignment.
The traders further appealed to Hon Okeke to take their message to the Governor, who they described as a listening governor.
