THE Rotary Club of Effurun GRA, District 9141 has installed Rotarian Linus Albert as the 12th president of the club with promise to execute more humanitarian projects in its host community in the 2024/2025 Rotary year.
The newly installed President of the club, Rotarian Albert outlined various projects the Rotary Club of Effurun GRA, would execute in this Rotary year during his investiture and fund raising ceremony at Chevron Club Great Hall, Warri, Delta State.
He affirmed that the club would focus on making meaningful impact in the host community with execution of the following projects: Equipping the Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories at Urhobo College to enhance scientific education, provision of delivery kits to pregnant women and promote maternal and child health, distribution of waste bins to health centres and general hospital to promote hygiene and disease control, to provide interest-free loans to empower local traders to foster economic growth, the club shall collaborate with Uvwie Local Government Area to maintain clean water and sanitation facilities.
He stated that Rotary members worldwide are working tirelessly to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, support maternal and child health, advance education, foster economic development, protect environment and eradicate polio, adding that the club would pursue and implement the goals the club set out for the Rotary year, assuring that the available funds would be judiciously used for the benefit of humanity.
In his valedictory speech, the Immediate Past President (IPP) of the club, Rotarian Benjamin Usiora said that the club has embarked and completed some projects in the 2023/2024 Rotary year.
He said his successor would do more and expressed confidence that Rotarian Albert would continue with Rotary programmes and activities to the benefit of humanity and urged members to fully support him to achieve the set target of the club.
The Chairman of the occasion and Rotary Assistant Governor, Rotarian Sunny Emeyese PHF+ urged members and lovers of Rotary to contribute to the club through donations to enable the club achieve its set targets.
Rotarian Dr. Iyke Ogbonna delivered a lecture on the 4-Way Test on the importance of Rotary as the foremost humanitarian organization worldwide.
