DTHA To Ensure Quality Execution Of Projects

BY ANDREW IKEHI

The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Special Projects says it will continue to work in tandem with the State Governor’s commitments to ensuring quality and timely completion of all ongoing projects in the state.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Oboro Preyor said this when he led members of the committee on an oversight visit to some ongoing projects in the State.

Preyor, who represents Bomadi State Constituency, explained that the oversight visits to the project sites are a constitutional assignment which must be carried out with all seriousness in line with global best practices as well as the transparency and accountability goal of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

The lawmaker emphasized that there must be value for money on every project embarked on by the state government, saying that the Delta State Assembly in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders would help ensure that projects are executed cost-effectively, without compromising quality.

Preyor said contractors must follow approved designs, adhere to specifications and develop plans that would guarantee the the long lifespan of the infrastructures.

The Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Works and Special Projects called on residents in the state to maintain all government projects as well as support the Governor in the delivery of his MORE agenda.

Preyor assured that the 8th Delta State Assembly led by Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor would help ensure judicious use of the State’s resources in meeting the needs of Deltans, even as he enjoined the people to maintain their support and appreciation to Governor Oborevwori as he is committed to ensuring all-round development in the state.

The lawmaker expressed optimism that the Kwale-Beneku Bridge which is near completion would greatly impact the welfare and economic activities of residents in the locality.

He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for adequately funding all ongoing projects, adding that the state government always pay contractors as and when due.

At Sector A of the dualization project, the Committee Chairman commended the construction company for working according to specification and for promising to deliver the project by June 2025.

Preyor, while also commending the indigenous construction company for the Kwale-Beneku Bridge, urged the Ministry of Works and firms handling the sector C1 and C2 dualization project to ensure proper finishing and early completion of the project.

The oversight inspection visit to other ongoing projects across the three senatorial districts continues.
