The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, yesterday, lifted the suspension on two Lawmakers, reinstating them to their positions in the hallowed chambers.
Welcoming lawmakers from the 2024 Annual recess, the speaker announced that the suspension on member representing Akoko-Edo II Constituency, Donald Okogbe, and Adeh Isibor representating Esan North East I Constituency were lifted. Recall that in May, three lawmakers were suspended over alleged plot to overthrow the house leadership. The Speaker while addressing the house, assured the people of Edo State of the house’ commitment to a robust legislation, and reiterated that the eight assembly remains one indivisible house. Agbebaku also congratulated Edo governor Elect Monday okpebhole, describing his victory as a win for All.
In his words, “I congratulate the governor Elect for his victory at the poll. I want to state that the governor is not the governor of APC alone. He is the governor of everyone. I pray for wisdom for the governor to succeed,” he said. In another development, the house received a letter from governor Godwin Obaseki requesting the confirmation of nominees for the civil service commission which was referred to the house committee on rules and businesses. Another letter of resignation was also received from the chairman, Local Government Service Commission Thomas Uloko.
The house also adopted a business calendar for the second quarter with 22 days in October, 20 days in November and 15 days in December.
