World Teachers’ Day: Ezewu Hails Teachers’ Mentorship To Students

As preparations for the 2024 World Teachers’ Day celebration intensify, the Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has acknowledged the teachers’ invaluable role in molding students and shaping the future of Delta’s youth.

She made the statement ahead of the World Teachers Day, set for October 5, which serves as a moment to reflect on the contributions of educators and the impact they have on society.

She commended teachers for their unwavering dedication, just as she described them as the backbone of the educational system.

According to Ezewu, teachers have played an essential role in providing mentorship and guidance, while fostering an environment where students can thrive academically and personally.

“Our teachers have consistently served as remarkable mentors, providing guidance and nurturing students to achieve their full potential. Their role in society cannot be overstated,” she remarked.

The commissioner noted that the teachers’ efforts go beyond the classroom, emphasizing their role in shaping values, building character, and preparing students for future challenges.

“Teachers are at the forefront of ensuring that students receive not just knowledge, but the wisdom to apply it in life. They are pillars of the community, helping to shape responsible and innovative citizens,” she added.

Mrs. Ezewu also highlighted the state’s efforts to support and empower teachers. She pointed to the initiatives aimed at enhancing teacher training, providing professional development opportunities, and improving the learning environment. “Delta State is committed to ensuring that our teachers are well-equipped to meet the challenges of modern education. We are investing in their continuous development because they are the key to the future of our students and the state,” she said.

As the state gears up for the World Teachers’ Day celebration, Ezewu urged the wider community to recognize the invaluable contributions of teachers and advocate for their well-being.

She stressed the need for collaborative efforts between the government, parents, and other stakeholders to create a conducive learning environment that benefits both teachers and students.
