BudgIT Nigeria, a prominent nonprofit organization advocating for transparency in governance, has advocated for citizens to familiarise themselves with the popular government monitoring platform, Tracka.
First introduced in 2014, Tracka has undergone significant rebranding, incorporating personalized features that allow Nigerians to easily access information about government projects in their localities.
BudgIT’s State Coordinator, Pius Okocha, highlighted the platform’s purpose during an interview with our correspondent. “Tracka aims to close the gap between budgetary allocations and the actual execution of government projects. It empowers citizens by providing them with up-to-date information on public-funded projects, thereby promoting transparency, accountability, and encouraging active participation. The platform also allows users to track and report projects in their communities” he said.
The platform included several new features designed to enhance user experience and security. These include access to detailed information on government projects and real-time updates on federal government allocations released for the states and local government, end-to-end encryption to protect user data, and a more personalized interface for easier navigation.
Citizens interested in utilizing Tracka can register by visiting Me.budgit.org, where they can input their details to receive regular email updates specific to their location.
