Ifesiokwu Calls For More Empowerment Of Oshimili South PDP Faithful

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State, Ogbueshi Chike Ifesiokwu has described the local government as one of the strongholds of the party.

Ifesiokwu made this known while addressing the Senior Political Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Sen. Emmanuel Aguariavwodo during his visit to the local government in Asaba.

He said the local government area, which comprises of Asaba, Oko, Okwe and accommodates a very considerable number of persons, has in the past contributed to the victory of the PDP, aside for the 2023 presidential elections, which was of course a national colossal failure to the party.

He said that the aftermath of that election was what led to the protest by the growing young people occasioned by the maladministration of the clueless APC government.

The party chairman said Oshimili South had deployed proactive measures to forestall a reoccurrence by setting up committees.

According to Ifesiokwu, the Church had become a veritable tool of political engineering in the hand of politicians, hence the need for engaging with notable church leaders in our midst to carry the mission statement of the PDP to the clergy and the laity.

The youths as bedrock of the modern day society have been charged with the responsibility of going to their wards to create an expanded leadership structure by adding critical young leaders in their folds.

He also said that the non-indigenes were not left out in the scheme of things as they were identified through a formation christened Non-Indigene Oshimili South PDP Support Group.

He said aged mothers, civil society groups representatives of traditional institutions, traders and artisans were also included in the political structure.

While commending the momentous and significant stride of the state governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, he appealed that party faithful in Oshimili South be considered for empowerment more than any other local government in the state that are sparsely populated.

Ifesiokwu requested that the governor attend to Oshimili South Local Government as a cosmopolitan local government and capital city, hence the need to attend to the Oko Ward 1 and 2 roads which has been a contentious issue, and also the Asaba/Onitsha express way by Ezenei Bonsaac junction which was in deplorable shape.

Responding, the Senior Political Adviser to the governor, assured members of the Party of the state governor’s intervention to their request.

The event had the Council Chairman, Hon Kelvin Ezenyili; his Vice, Hon. Chinye Uso and other Party Faithful in attendance.
