Ogwashi-Uku Land/Boundary Crisis: Ac Okocha Throws Weight Behind Govt’s Commission Of Inquiry

PROMINENT Ogwashi-Uku kingdom leader and elder statesman in Aniocha South council area of Delta State, Chief Andrew Chukwudi Okocha, has thrown his weight behind the State government’s constitution of a Commission of lnquiry, to look into the protracted land and boundary crisis rocking the community.

Chief Okocha said the decision of the Governor Oborevwori administration, is not only proactive and a step in the right direction, but will also proffer lasting solution to all the concerns raised by various interest groups in the matter

Okocha who said that he regretted the avoidable destruction of property and loss of lives caused by the festering crisis, noted that OgwashiUku is administered at the quarter level by Diokpas, who, along with the elders, appoint OKWABANIS, in their various localities.

Speaking with Journalists at his Ogwashi-Uku country home, ACOM House, Chief Okocha, the National Chairman of the Ogwashi-Uku People’s Democratic Party Leaders and Elders Forum (OPDPLEF), said he is very confident that the Commission of lnquiry headed by Hon Justice Ejiro Emudainohwo, will entertain all shades of submissions by the various stakeholders in the community

He urged the Commission of lnquiry to be circumspect and look dispassionately at the people’s age long customs and tradition in their decision making

AC Okocha, therefore, appealed to all well-meaning sons and daughters of Ogwashi-Uku, to ensure that they participate fully and present position papers to the Commission of lnquiry in order to bequeath lasting peace to Ogwashi-Uku kingdom

The business mogul, further urged the people to come out enmasse once the commission of inquiry commences sitting, as this will in no small measure, ensure that their inputs are aggregated for the good of the kingdom and generations yet unborn .

It will be recalled that following widespread crisis emanating from allegations of land grabbing and boundary disputes within Ogwashi-Uku and its environs, the Delta State government , after a Security council meeting resolution, constituted a seven member Commission of lnquiry, headed by Hon Justice Ejiro Emudainohwo, to look into the remote and immediate cause of the crisis, which had resulted in destruction of property and loss of lives, with a view to identifying the causes and proffering long lasting solutions.
