Oborevwori Determined To Develop Delta-Ijaw Communities —Aguariavwodo

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured the development of Delta Ijaw territory with the establishment of the Ministry of Riverine Infrastructure to alleviate the sufferings of the riverine populace.

The Senior Political Adviser to the state governor, Hon. Emmanuel Aguariavwodo gave the assurance on behalf of the governor, while reacting to demands of the people during his working visit to Bomadi Local Government Area.

He assured Bomadians and all Delta Ijaws of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s determination to engender infrastructural and socio-economic development in riverine communities of the state.

According to him “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori said I should tell you, not to fear because his administration is in charge working for Deltans, and by God’s grace he will successfully carry out all government policies and programmes for Deltans as promised during his campaigns.

“He also said I should tell you that his coming into office is the beginning of a new era in Ijawland. Part of the M.O.R.E Agenda is to bring development to the Ijaw of Delta State and he has vowed to develop Ijawland, and that is the more reason the governor has established the Ministry of Riverine Infrastructure.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to, as a matter of necessity, ensure that academic activities commence at the approved Delta State Polytechnic in Bomadi.

The council boss noted that the council had been striving to put in place a lot of the infrastructure needs of the area and asked the state government to intervene, urgently, on the basic needs of the people in riverine communities.

“We are specifically grateful for his response to our people’s plea, exemplified by the approval of the Bomadi-Ohoror road reconstruction, which will significantly boost our local economy through its multiplier effect. “He disclosed that in order to replicate the M.O.R.E. Agenda of the state government in Bomadi Local Government, my administration has embarked on an array of projects aimed at providing basic amenities, improving the quality of life and unlocking the potential of our great Bomadi local government area. We are optimistic that we will complete these projects at a record time.

He also appealed for the upgrading of the General Hospital Bomadi to Central Hospital and the provision of state-of-the-art equipment, as well as approving additional primary schools across the various communities in the local government.

“We equally appeal for construction of shoreline protection at Bomadi and Kpakiama waterfronts, construction of a comprehensive drainage system at Bomadi to reduce the perennial flooding, construction of a befitting stadium in Bomadi and collaboration on power generation initiatives.

In the same vein, former Delta State Commissioner for Energy, Barrister Newworld Safugha, thanked Hon Aguariavwodo for the visit, calling on the state government to complete the construction of the Bomadi Modern Market and make it functional to check further encroachment.

He said when completed it would enhance the economic status of the people and create jobs for the team youths.

Safugha while also commending the Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Area, Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye for his leadership qualities, urged the state government to upgrade the approved Delta State Polytechnic in Bomadi to a campus of the Delta State University to enhance quality of education in the area.

Other political bigwigs who graced the occasion include the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Kelly Penawou, Hon. Nicholas Mutu (represented), Hon. Barry Gbe, Hon. (Barr) David Ekereokosu, Hon. Deinghan Macaulay, Hon Fun-Ebi Manager, PDP Chairman in Bomadi Local Government Area, Hon. Godbless Keneke and a host of others.
