Asaba Monarch Suspends Youth Activities

THE Asagba of Asaba, HRM Obi (Prof) Epiphany Azinge, SAN, has suspended all activities of the Asaba Community Youth Council (ACYC) amid growing concerns over the conduct and direction of youth affairs in the community.

Consequently, the monarch established an adhoc committee tasked with reviewing and enhancing the structure and operations of youth activities within Asaba.

This was contained in a letter titled: ‘’Suspension of All Activities of Asaba Community Youth Council and Constitution of an Adhoc Committee to Evaluate Youth Activities/Functions in Asaba’’, signed by the Assistant Palace Secretary, Ogbueshi Chiagor Awodu.

The letter reads: ‘’Arising from the maiden Asagba Executive Council meeting presided by HRM, Asagba (Prof) Epiphany Azinge, a committee was constituted to look into activities of the Asaba Community Youth Council.

‘’I am, therefore, directed to inform you that the activities of the Asaba Community Youth Council are hereby suspended till further notice. To this end, members of the ad-hoc committee are as follows;

‘’Obi Nwanazia-Chairman; Chief P. E Nwokolo (Akudo Ahaba); Ogbueshi Uche Nwajei (Onoi Ahaba) Chief Christopher Chukwurah (Owelle Ahaba) and Dr (Engr) Jude Mgbeze (Secretary).

The letter was further copied to the Omu of Asaba as well as the heads of the five quarters of Asaba-Umuezei, Ugbomanta, Umuagu, Umuaji, Umuonaje as well as the Chairman of the Asaba Community Youth Council and the Chairman of the Asaba Community Vigilante.
