THE Ika South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council headed by Chief Wilson Oni Agbobu has paid a courtesy visit to the Dein Of Agbor Kingdom, HRM, (Dr) Benjamin Ikenchukwu.
The visit was to formally present candidates of the party for the forthcoming Local Government election, and also seek blessing from the monarch.
The PDP Campaign Council Chairman, leaders and other Party faithful were received by Dein Keagborekuzi and his chiefs.
Addressing the mammoth gathering, Dein Keagborekuzi said he was pleased with the peaceful manner the PDP went about electing its candidates, especially for the chairmanship position of the council.
He noted that as the traditional leader of the Agbor Kingdom, he owes every one of his subjects the fatherly duty of giving his support and prayer to whoever comes to the palace to seek his counsel.
According to him, “It is my responsibility to work with all my subjects for the good and development of Agbor. So, whoever comes to me for advice and support, I willingly give to the individual.” The Agbor monarch emphasized the need for whoever emerges as Council Chairman to find practical ways to solve the insecurity challenge in Ika South, as according to him, “insecurity is currently a big challenge to our people. We must all support the government to bring it to an end within the shortest possible time. We must all work together for the interest of Ika South.”
Earlier, while speaking, the PDP Chairmanship candidate, Engr Jerry Ehiwarior, appreciated the king and his chiefs for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage.
He admitted that the pressing challenge currently facing the people of Ika South was insecurity, which he promised to tackle with all seriousness and commitment.
“The two most critical areas of focus of my administration is going to be security and provision of infrastructure. I understand that there cannot be peace and development without security. Therefore, we are going to pay utmost attention to tackling insecurity.”
While soliciting the support and cooperation of the traditional ruler, and the people of Ika South, the chairmanship candidate assured that he would not disappoint the people if elected.
In their separate remarks, Ika South PDP Chairman, Comrade Amechi Igumbor; Chairman of PDP Campaign Council, Chief Wilson Oni Agbobu, and Secretary of the Campaign, Hon Godwin Ezedom, said the PDP had carefully elected its candidates, who they disclosed are youths with strong desires to bring needed transformation to Ika South.
