THE member Representing Sapele Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Perkins Umukoro has doled out over N15million and some items to empower members of his constituency.
Presenting the cash and items to PDP members drawn from various Wards in Sapele Local Government Area, the lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of them.
Hon Umukoro, while thanking the State Party Chairman and party members for their support, noted that the empowerment programme was to mark his one year in office as a Lawmaker.
At his Sapele residence, venue of the ceremony, the lawmaker gave out N50,000 each to over 60 persons, while others received dryers, sewing machines and ovens, and appealled to the beneficiaries to use the items to better their lives and not sell them.
The Pointer reports that the lawmaker said, “During my election campaign, I made promises that I will bring the dividend of democracy to my people. I have decided to assist my people periodically.”
“Before now I organised women sweeping the roads in Sapele, to bring back the lost glory because the town used to be known as one of the neatest in the State. I have been empowering my constituents as a result of the hard nature of the economy. I went out to get those who are skilled in different areas for today’s empowerment. I will continue to do more.”
