Flood: Okoloba Community Seeks Govt Intervention

BY HARRISON AKAMULE

The people of Okoloba Community in Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State have appealed to the state government to come to their aid due to hardship orchestrated by the flood.

The Chairman of Okoloba Community, Mr Clement Koki said the appeal was necessitated due to the overwhelming situation of the flood.

According to him, it was expected that the water level would have receded by now but surprisingly it has not, and as such, has made life unbearable for the people.

Mr Koki pointed out that due to the situation, farmers in the community have harvested their farm produce prematurely, adding that schools have also gone on flood vacations.

He also said that children, the elderly and the aged were exposed to water-borne diseases.

The Chairman, therefore, appealed to relevant authorities to act fast, saying they don’t want to experience the same trauma and devastation they suffered in the previous flood.

Mr Koki also appealed to corporate organizations and well-meaning Nigerians to come to their aid and salvage the situation.
