DSTG Moves To Enhance Discipline In Civil Service

THE Delta State Government, yesterday, vowed to re­structure the civil service work ethics and enforce high standard of discipline amongs workers in the state.

This was disclosed by the Chairman, Delta State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Dr. Roseline Amioku at the statutory annual monitoring excercise held at Prof. Chike Edozien Basement Hall, Asaba, the state capital.

In accordance to the public service rule and civil service commission rule, indiscipline and unethical misconduct is a punishable offence alongside indecent dressing to work.

According to Dr. Amioku “I know, no more repect in the society and work place, but that respect must come back and all of us will work together to bring it back.

For no reason will a Level 8 staff be seated and a director will be standing, that is gross misconduct and will not be accepted. The first thing i spoke about was our mode of dressing applause to those who are properly dressed keep it up and pass same to your subordinates”, Amioku posited.

Additionally, the third Commissioner of the Commission, Prince Mike Oputa reiterated stringent guideline governing the civil service system: Promotion excercise and interviews should be taken seriously, in addition to prompt submission of retirement letter including all necessary documents.

Also, is the quick submission of promotion brief to avoid super session, strick adherence to procedures guilding ASCON examination, submission of inter cadel transfer along with nominal roles, quarterĺy audit of staffs, prompt response to disciplinary cases, and personal medical checkups.

In her opening remark, the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Local Government Affairs, Mrs. Ngozi Nwanze applauded the Chairman and members of the commission for such an impera­tive and productive excercise, adding that participants will do more in discharge of their daily duties without compromise.

In an interactive section, Mr. Vincent Ohwofadjeke, Emiri Oke, Mr. Peter Amaduobogha, Comr. Bolum Nwachukwu and others, in their separate speeches, requested for the employ­ment of professionals in each parastatals to enable them discharge their duties appropriately. They also advised of­ficers to abstain from redundancy inorder to foster the quick actualization of the new living wage.
