DELTA State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, commended the State Government’s dedication to both education and sports at the conclusion of the 2024 Zenith Bank Delta Principals’ Cup Football Championship.
The event held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, underscored the administration’s commitment to youth development through sports initiatives.
Ezewu highlighted the impressive participation of over 522 secondary schools from across the state, all competing for the prestigious title. Only two schools reached the final: Ugbomro Secondary School from Uvwie Local Government Area and Umutu Mixed Secondary School from Ukwuani Local Government Area.
The Commissioner praised the partnership between Delta State and Zenith Bank, noting that the tournament aims to spotlight and nurture young football talent , contributing significantly to grassroots sports development.
She also expressed her gratitude to Zenith Bank for their continued support, as well as to the students whose enthusiasm and skill made the event a success.
The championship concluded with a 2-0 victory for Ugbomro Secondary School, who took home N500,00 prize and a new bus, donated by the Delta State Government.
