Okpebholo’s Kinsmen Take Lead In Appointments

BY FAVOUR PERCY-IDUBOR

Edo State Governor, Sen Monday Okpebholo has continued to hit the ground running with the appointments of his core loyalists to take charge of the boards of various government parastatals that were dissolved at his behest.

The state government via a press statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Umar Musa Ikhilor announced six new appointments to fill various vacant positions.

Edo Central received five out of the six new appointments, reflecting Sen Okpebholo’s representation from that district.

Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, a close relative of Pastor Osazie Ize Iyamu, a prominent Edo APC leader and the party’s guber candidate in 2020, was appointed as the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

The other five appointees from Edo Central, also known as Esan in local parlance include Mr. Lucky Enehita-Inegbenehi, who has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Edo State Waste Management Board;

Friday Ibadin (retd), will serve as the State Corps Commander for the Edo State Security Corps;  Mr Stainless  Ijeghede,  as the Managing Director of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA); and Sir (Dr.) Lucky Eseigbe, the Managing Director of the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency.

The fifth name that was announced was that of Engr Emmanuel Okoebor, a commissioner-designate, also from Edo Central. He will serve as the state Commissioner of Finance once he is screened and confirmed by the state assembly.

The five appointments took immediate effect on November 15, 2024. However, the Commissioner-designates’ appointment will require assembly ratification.
