Minimum Wage: EWGG National Coordinator Praises Oborevwori Over Workers’ Welfare

BY MAGNUS EMUJI

THE National Coordinator, Eagle Watch for Good Governance (EWGG), Mr. Cletus Kwalekeme has lauded Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for the priority given to welfare of workers in the state. He also commended President Bola Tinubu for a systematic approach towards enhancing the welfare of the workforce.

Kwalekeme, who stated this in Asaba, the Delta State capital, said that the Tinubu administration should continue to engender checks and balances and ensure accountability. He said that the administration has the interest of the workforce at heart, adding that in demonstrating that, the President approved and implemented the N70,000 minimum wage for Nigeria workers, just as he applauded the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for approving and implementing N77,500 for workers in the state.

Kwalekeme said that Governor Oborevwori was among the first to have implemented the new minimum wage which, according to him, had brought succour to Delta State workers.

While calling on civil servants in the country to redouble their commitment to service so as to become more productive, Kwalekeme explained that the Tinubu administration must ensure checks and balances in order to sanitize the system for the overall benefits of the nation.

He reiterated that the President’s removal of the oil subsidy was a strategic approach to stabilize the economy and reminded Nigerians that there are a lot of benefits associated with the subsidy removal despite some teething challenges.
