A renowned economist and CEO of Forkland Hotel and Shettima Dynasty, Elder Don Ndudi Agholor, has called on residents to embrace community service and nation-building.
Agholor, popularly known as Shettima, made the statement while chairing the thanksgiving ceremony at St. Colomba Catholic Church in Agbor, Delta State.
In his address, Shettima expressed gratitude for the honour to chair the occasion, saying, “I am truly elated to serve as chairman of this joyous occasion. I pledge to continue being a responsible senior citizen, contributing positively to the growth of our nation.”
He also highlighted his dedication to community development, referencing his role as President General of Agbor-Nta Community, where he has overseen numerous initiatives aimed at improving local infrastructure and services.
Shettima commended St. Colomba Catholic Church for its commitment to the Christian faith, noting its profound impact on the lives of many individuals.
The business man further stressed the importance of gratitude, urging the congregation to make thankfulness a daily practice. “Harvest Thanksgiving is a reminder to live with gratitude. It is crucial that we not only give thanks today but carry this spirit throughout our lives,” he said.
He encouraged the church to continue its selfless service to humanity and its mission to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ.
In closing, Shettima reiterated that “Gratitude is essential to a fulfilling life. Community service is vital for nation-building. Faith-based institutions play a pivotal role in shaping society, and selfless service to humanity remains a core principle of Christianity.”
Chairman of the organising committee, Mr. Simon Enwemeka, expressed delight at the presence of attendees, particularly Shettima, who had honoured their invitation. Enwemeka shared that the church had experienced significant growth over the past year, both spiritually and in terms of its congregation.
He thanked Shettima for his support and love for the church, emphasising that his willingness to chair the event was a testament to his commitment to both God and the community. He concluded by praying for Shettima’s continued prosperity and protection in all aspects of life.
