THE Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Lady Roseline Amioku (JP), has emphasised the need for intensified empowerment and mentorship programs to foster women’s career advancement in both the public and private sectors.
She made this statement during a courtesy visit from the Professional Women Accountants in Nigeria (PROWAN), the women’s wing of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).
The delegation, led by the Coordinator of the Asaba District Chapter, Mrs. Tosan Erikpara (FCNA), was welcomed at the Commission’s office in Asaba, Delta State.
In her remarks, Lady Amioku expressed gratitude to PROWAN for its commitment to advancing professionalism among female accountants and highlighted the critical importance of women in leadership roles.
“Women have an essential role to play in shaping the future of our society, particularly in leadership positions. We must continue to empower and mentor the next generation of female leaders and professionals, equipping them with the tools and opportunities to excel,” she said.
The Chairman described the visit as a valuable platform to strengthen collaboration between the Civil Service Commission and PROWAN, focusing on the advancement of women in accounting and governance.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the PROWAN Asaba District Chapter, Mrs. Tosan Erikpara, congratulated Lady Amioku on her appointment as Chairman of the Commission and commended her commitment to the development of accountants, especially through continuous training opportunities.
She called for sustained support for accountants within the Delta State Civil Service to ensure they remain competitive in the evolving global industry. “Continuous professional development is crucial for accountants to stay ahead of industry reforms and challenges,” she added.
Erikpara also proposed a partnership between PROWAN and the Commission to facilitate training programmes and capacity-building initiatives for accountants.
As part of the visit, Mrs. Erikpara invited Lady Amioku to attend PROWAN’s year-end dinner, where she would be honoured as the group’s patron and mother of the day. The event, she said, would celebrate the Chairman’s contributions to the accounting profession and her dedication to empowering women in public service.
The meeting was graced by top officials from the Delta State Civil Service Commission, including First Commissioner Chief Comrade Olumami Oyibo, Second Commissioner Chief Dr. Akpufuoma Pemu, Third Commissioner Prince Mike Oputa, Fourth Commissioner Barrister Ikechukwu Madumezie, and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Frederick Yoro.
