A host of distinguished personalities gathered to celebrate the birthday of the Provost of the College of Education (COE), Warri, Dr Dickson Oyovwi, in a colourful event organized by his fiancée, Ms Gift Ologide.
The celebration, held in grand style, attracted eminent guests from various walks of life. Among the well-wishers were the Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, and his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Fidelia Ighrakpata, who serves as the Deputy Provost of the COE, Warri.
In a media chat, the Ighrakpatas lauded Dr. Oyovwi as a philanthropist, a God-fearing leader, and a model of humility.
The Secretary of the prestigious Warri Club, Mr Andrew Ukavbe, a close friend of the celebrant, described him as “a friend in a million.” Ukavbe, who holds Dr. Oyovwi in high regard, expressed his gratitude for their enduring friendship, noting the Provost’s title as Omovoghor of Olomu Kingdom as a mark of his distinguished character.
The father of Ms Gift, Mr Ambrose Ologide, a veteran journalist, also praised Dr Oyovwi, calling him a personality that everyone aspires to associate with. Echoing similar sentiments, Mrs. Elohor Ologide and Mr. Divine Ologide—Ms. Gift’s mother and brother, respectively—spoke highly of the celebrant’s kindness and his positive impact on humanity.
An elated Dr. Oyovwi, speaking during the event, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for the gift of life and to his fiancée for orchestrating the surprise celebration. He extended special thanks to his close friend, Mr Andrew Ukavbe, for contributing to the event’s success and to all the guests and well-wishers who honoured him with their presence and goodwill messages.
The highlight of the celebration was the cutting of the birthday cake by Dr Oyovwi, joined by his fiancée, Ms Gift Okeoghene Ologide, and other distinguished guests.
