Areyenka Commissions Borehole Projects In Koko

  • As Omo Foundation Celebrates 5th Anniversary

THE Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairman, Chief Solomon Areyenka, has commissioned three borehole water projects executed by the Omo Foundation to commemorate i t s 5th anniver sary in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Performing the function, the State Party Chairman said the OMO Foundation, through its founder, Dr. Oritsegbegbemi Maurice Ojo-Ede, has shown affection for the people and willingness to complement services provided by the state government.

Areyenka commended the founder of the OMO Foundation for the laudable project, noting that the project is in line with the Delta State Government’s MORE Agenda.

“For this foundation to commission three boreholes in Koko is a laudable achievement. We will ensure the state government recognises and supports these efforts, he said.

The project, which includes six water storage tanks, three generator sets, and three water pumping machines, was celebrated with an official commissioning ceremony on Friday, November 22, 2024.

In his address, the founder of OMO Foundation, Dr. Oritsegbegbemi, described the project as a significant achievement that tackles the challenges of the community.

“This water project is one of our proudest achievements. These three borehole projects today mark a significant step towards providing clean, safe water to the communities.

“Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and through these projects, we are ensuring that thousands of families no longer have to walk miles to fetch water from unsafe sources.

These boreholes represent not only a source of life but also a symbol of hope and resilience for the communities we serve.

“The impact of these projects will be felt for generations to come, as clean water is vital for improving health, he said.

In the same vein, the Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council, Hon. Festus Ashima, praised the OMO Foundation for its significant contributions to the community.

He said, “We celebrate the completion of the three (3) water projects, which will benefit several households and a sizable number of individuals in the Koko community. These projects are a testament to the power of partnership and collaboration between government NGOs and local communities.

He assured the foundation that the projects will be sustained and maintained to ensure longevity while urging the benefiting communities to take ownership of these projects and ensure their proper use and maintenance.
