DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori will not respond to unnecessary distractions, but shall remain focused on infrastructure and socioeconomic development across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The Director-General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Latimore Oghenesivbe, gave the assurance while speaking during a live radio phone programme in Warri.
Oghenesivbe said that the major opposition political party in the state was already showing signs of early negative confrontations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
He noted that recent attacks on former governor of the State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, was and still a pointer to the fact that opposition political parties were already feeling inferior and uncomfortable with the excellent scorecard of Governor Oborevwori, noting that detractors may have reasoned that denting Okowa’s image may affect the performance of PDP in the 2027 governorship election.
Oghenesivbe assured the People’s Democratic Party family in Delta, led by incumbent governor, Rt. Hon Oborevwori, will not allow Senator Okowa’s detractors to tarnish his enviable reputation ahead of 2027 general elections, pointing out that against all odds Senator Okowa will spring pleasant surprises in Nigeria’s political landscape in the near future.
The State Bureau Chief stated that governor Oborevwori is focused on delivering quality dividends of democracy to all Deltans, irrespective of political and religious affiliation, and that when it’s time to play politics, the governor will stand tall like an iroko tree, assuring that his performance would speak loud and clear at the polls in 2027.
“Governor Oborevwori is not yet ready to play 2027 politics. His second year in office is about six months away. This administration is already in good standing due to the good governance strides of our amiable governor.
“Our governor is a God fearing Christian, and a humble leader. He’s not going to join issues with those already panicking ahead of the 2027 governorship election, those who feel that by disparaging the system and top political leaders of the ruling party in the state, the better for them and their unpopular political parties.
“This is one of the reasons we can never allow Okowa’s Political detractors to tarnish his enviable reputation. He governed Delta State without blemish. State Annual audited accounts were published.
“DESOPADEC initiated and executed infrastructural and socioeconomic development projects that were commissioned across all oil producing communities in Delta State from 2015 to May 29, 2023. It’s broad daylight wickedness to allege that the Senator misappropriated N1.3 trillion. It’s laughable.
“All well-meaning Deltans, home and abroad, shall continue to confront and expose every negative antic against our amiable leader, Senator Okowa and incumbent governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
“I urge all well-meaning Deltans and indeed Nigerians to continue to pray for and support governor Oborevwori as we Advances Delta beyond 2027,”
