…Pledges Corps Members, Staff Welfare
THE Delta State chapter of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has welcomed a new State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, who officially assumed office on Wednesday, November 20.
Kwaghe, the 16th State Coordinator and the seventh male to hold the position, succeeds Mr. Olusegun Alao, whose tenure was marked by notable achievements in advancing the scheme’s objectives. A handover ceremony was held at the State Coordinator’s Office within the Federal Secretariat Complex, Asaba, to mark the transition.
Addressing staff at the event, Kwaghe promised a transformative approach, saying, “better days are ahead.” He outlined plans to create a supportive and harmonious work environment while championing the welfare of both staff and corps members.
He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the focal priorities of the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, adding, “I will adopt an open-door policy and ensure the welfare of all stakeholders remains paramount.”
Kwaghe expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Alao, for his exemplary leadership, pledging to sustain and build upon the progress achieved in recent past.
Earlier, Alao introduced the incoming State Coordinator to staff, urging them to maintain their dedication and extend full support to him. “A seamless transition and unwavering loyalty will ensure continuity in achieving our shared goals”, he said.
Following the formal handover, Kwaghe held meetings with the management team and members of staff. During these engagements, he underlined the importance of discipline, professionalism, and integrity in service delivery, declaring, “I will not tolerate any act capable of tarnishing the scheme’s image.”
Staff members present at the handover ceremony expressed optimism about the transition, voicing confidence that Kwaghe’s leadership would bring innovative solutions to present challenges while enhancing the operational efficiency of the NYSC in Delta State.
