THE Comedians and Masters of Ceremony Association in Uvwie Local Government Area have launched an enlightenment campaign to combat drug abuse and other social vices.
Members of the group organised a motorcade along Idjakpa Road, Effurun, featuring music and messages against drug abuse and societal vices, recently.
Speaking to our correspondent, the group’s Chairman, Mr. Victory Ohue explained that the initiative was aimed to support government efforts in creating a better society.
“This campaign isn’t limited to youths, though they are the majority involved in drug abuse and other vices. Some older individuals also engage in these behaviours, setting poor examples for younger generations,” he noted.
The Edo-born leader proudly said that the campaign, which has been ongoing for some time, had received positive feedback from the public. However, he acknowledged that change among individuals entrenched in such habits takes time.
Ohue called for support from the government, corporate organisations, non-governmental organisations, and well-meaning individuals to strengthen the group’s efforts. He emphasised that additional resources would enhance the reach and impact of their activities.
