Ajudua Condemns Silence In Abusive Homes

DELTA State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vice Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Asaba Branch, Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua has condemned women who tolerate and enable gender-based violence.

The Commissioner disclosed this at the 2024 FIDA Week Dinner Night, which took place at the Nigerian Bar Association, Ned Nwoko Hall in Asaba during the weekend.

Ajudua stressed the importance of women speaking out against gender-based violence and supporting those affected. Her message aligns with FIDA’s mission to promote and protect the rights of women and children.

“The moment you are being molested or violated, endeavor to cry out to the nearest police station or to FIDA because the moment you condone evil, evil grows, so the best way to eradicate and combat gender based violence in our society is to speakout.

“The 16 days’ activism is on, during this period we actively engage in various activities including advocacy walks, sensitization programs, support for victims. Also collaborating with other groups to promote awareness and drive positive change”. Ajudua stated

Earlier, in her opening remarks, the Chairperson FIDA Asaba, Branch Bar. Stellamaris Mejulu heartily appreciated guests present at the dinner night for their drive and contributions to FIDA over the years. This is not a speech giving day, it is a day of merriment , socialization and honoring and recognizing those who have supported us in various ways.

“To my predecessor, officials, FIDA members, partners, paralegals, student body, associate members,and supportive spouses, we are glad to have you, thanks for your time, energy and financial support we are grateful. On the screen are compendium of our achievements in the administration that is about to wind-up in few days” she said

Additionally, the former Chairperson, FIDA Asaba Branch, Hon.Tina Onianwa praised the present administration for their resilience,efforts, sacrifice, impact and contributions over the years. She admonished them not to relent in their legal profession but to be ambassadors of what they preached.

In a vote of thanks , the Chairperson Planning Committee, 2024 FIDA Week Dinner Night, Mrs. Pleasure Ebbah- Mukoro flanked by other members expressed their gratitude to members and guest who graced the occasion.
