OVIE Primary School, Ellu, in the Isoko North Local Government Area, has held its cultural day celebration. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria through a series of performances by the pupils.
The celebration featured dances representing the Isoko, Igbo, Yoruba, Ijaw, and Hausa cultures, delighting the audience with their colourful costumes and rhythmic movements. The pupils’ energetic performances highlighted the unity and diversity of the Nigerian cultural heritage.
In her address, the Head Teacher of Ovie Primary School, Mrs. OghaleIlaya, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the traditional ruler of Ellu kingdom, His Royal Majesty (Amb.) Dr. Murphy Urugbezi, Ogwara I, JP, and his Chiefs for their unwavering support to the school. She commended their contributions, which have helped foster a sense of community and pride among the pupils.
Ilaya also called on the prominent sons and daughters of Ellu kingdom to further support the school by addressing its pressing needs. She highlighted the importance of providing a regular security guard, a bell, additional teachers, and new school uniforms to enhance the learning environment for the pupils.
She reiterated her commitment to ensuring that Ovie Primary School continues to serve as a beacon of cultural and academic excellence in the community. She urged stakeholders to collaborate in addressing the school’s challenges and supporting its growth.
The occasion witnessed the presence of key figures from the Ellu kingdom. Representing the monarch, HRM Amb. Dr. Othuke Murphy Urugbezi, JP, was Emekaili Ovie Godspower. Other notable attendees included Chief Stephen Okoh, the Okugbe of Ellu; Chief Vincent Enumah, the Ukpe of Ellu; Chief Patrick Okoroh, the Ezomor of Ellu; Comd. Efe Odhomor, and the Chairman of the Ellu Community Education Committee, Mr. Obireh A. Ezekiel.
The event provided a platform for showcasing cultural pride and fostering unity among the community members. It also served as a reminder of the importance of preserving cultural traditions for future generations.
