LEADERS of the Arewa, Igbo, Yoruba, and Igala communities in Uvwie Local Government Area have commended the Chairman of Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, for his exceptional generosity in enrolling 450 individuals into the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative (IEAI) program of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC).
This historic gesture, aimed at enhancing access to quality healthcare, was celebrated for its inclusivity and impact on community well-being.
The IEAI is designed to provide essential healthcare services to vulnerable members of society, regardless of ethnicity or tribal affiliation, reflecting Ighrakpata’s commitment to uniting the community and promoting equitable development.
Speaking during the event, Ighrakpata highlighted his mission to ensure that every resident of Uvwie has access to adequate healthcare while supporting the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government.
“This initiative is part of my effort to complement the state government’s vision. I urge beneficiaries to take full advantage of this program to improve their family’s health and reduce unnecessary medical expenses,” he said.
Ighrakpata further pledged to expand the program, promising to enroll an additional 500 individuals by 2025.
Giving his remarks, the Director-General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, praised Ighrakpata for his leadership, describing the initiative as one of the most meaningful contributions to the community.
According to Akpoveta, the program has potentially transformed lives by providing access to healthcare for the less privileged, stressing that Ighrakpata’s generosity would strengthen communal harmony and uplift the entire community,” Akpoveta stated.
“It gladdens my heart to see the spirit of solidarity and community support by leaders to provide essential healthcare services for vulnerable people to access quality healthcare service.” He said.
He urged other persons to key into the IEAI program as an act of charity to demonstrate empathy and a tangible commitment to the wellbeing of other Deltans.
Speaking with the press, the Chairman of the Arewa Community, Shaibu Mohammed, described the program as a groundbreaking moment. “I’ve lived in Delta for 44 years, and this is the first time I’ve witnessed such a monumental initiative. It’s unprecedented that people like us, who are not originally from Delta, are included in such a life-changing program. This will make quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all,” Mohammed said.
He expressed gratitude to Hon. Ighrakpata, Dr. Akpoveta, and the Delta State Government for their dedication to improving healthcare access for residents of the state, regardless of background, as he noted that the initiative is expected to leave a lasting impact on the people while strengthening the bonds of unity and development within Uvwie.
