Gov. Oborevwori Hails SUBEB For Positive Reforms

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori has commended the present leadership of the State Universal Education Board, SUBEB, for the reforms and several positive developments in the sub sector.

Oborevwori who gave the commendation during the Nine Lessons and Carol organized by board and management of SUBEB, said he is impressed with recent reforms that has brought improvements in primary education in the state.

The Governor represented by the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibuogwu, assured that his administration will continue to support SUBEB to achieved set goals.

He stressed his government’s desire of Delta children becoming world class human resource and global figures.

Governor Oborevwori enjoined Deltans to live in peace and harmony with one another in the yuletide season and beyond.

He explained that the impact of the season would not be felt without putting smiles on faces of people as that was the reason God gave His only begotten son for the redemption of mankind.

Oborevwori commended the Executive Chairman of the Board, Hon. Samuel Mariere, members, management and staff of SUBEB for the camaraderie that exists among them and urged all to remain united, adding that he was impressed with the nine lessons and carol including the words of ministration by the clergy.

The Governor congratulated Teachers selected for various awards by the board for their exceptional performance to duties aimed at improving standards in basic public education in the state and charged them not to relent, while calling on others to work hard for recognitions.

Executive Chairman of the SUBEB, Chief Samuel Mariere said for the past one year the board has achieved a lot, noting that the successes were possible through some reforms introduced and management personnel of the board.

He commended outstanding staff who worked very had to ensure the board made progressed and presented to them with an award of recognition including a cash of 50,000 naira each.

The two term former lawmaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, disclosed that there was increased in enrollment into public primary schools in the state in 2024, following massive awareness carried out by the board, saying 2025 would witness more progress in that regards.

He said the board had set up a committee to pick outstanding staff for awards across the 25 LGAs.

Mariere expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for quick approval of funds for the board to run smoothly, stressing that the interest and commitment of the Governor to the growth of basic education is outstanding.

In his sermon, Chaplain, Government House Chapel, Ven. Charles Nnamchi Osemenan, enjoined the people to be joyful always, adding that anything that will make them sad should be resisted.

They were Bible readings, carols and ministrations.
